Narayanasamy urges Indian govt to protect Tamils
Pondicherry, Aug 19 (UNI) All India Congress Committee General Secretary V Narayanasamy MP today urged the Centre to intervene and protect innocent Tamils who were being killed in Sri Lanka.
Adressing a press conference here, he said the Government should take initiatives to end the internal war in Sri Lanka, through proper dialogue. He also wanted the Centre to condemn the killings of Tamils, as it had condemned Israel attacking Lebanon.
Mr Narayanasamy said the Pondicherry administration should concentrate on developing the economy of the Union Territory.
Infrastructure should be developed to encourage foreign direct investment (FDI). The French connection should be utilised to ensure FDI, he said.
He also demanded that steps be taken to obtain 50 per cent seats for students in all the private professional colleges here, including minority status and deemed universities. Newly elected panchayat presidents and members should be given proper training and be informed of their powers and duties, he added.
