JD(U) executive to meet on August 26-27
New Delhi, Aug 19 (UNI) The National Executive of the Janata Dal (United) will be held here on August 26 and 27 where the party will seek to focus on its strategy in the forthcoming assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, Uttaranchal, Punjab and Manipur.
The executive, which is being held for the first time after Mr Sharad Yadav took over as the party president, is likely to pass resolutions on political economic and international situation.
The party has announced its decision to align with Apna Dal in Uttar Pradesh which means it would be contesting independently and not as an NDA constituent in the politically sensitive state.
The focus of economic resolution would be on the price rise which had created record of sorts, hurting not just the poor section of the society but also the families belonging to middle and upper classes. Issues like food security and Indo-US nuclear deal will figure in one form or the other in the economic and political resolutions, BJP General Secretary and Spokesman Shambhu Srivastava said.
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will be the star attraction at the two-day meet.
The party would also watch the actions of the group which was loyal to former Defence Minister and party chief George Fernandes and had not taken his removal kindly in the last elections to the party president's post.
Dr Srivastava said there would be reports from the states apprising the Executive about the political and organisational situation in their states. He also clarified that no special invitation has been sent to anybody but all the leaders had been informed about the meeting, dates and and its venues to enable their attendance.
