Jammu lawyers strike enters 52nd day
Jammu, Aug 19 (UNI) The judicial work in local bench of Jammu and Kashmir high court and other subordinate courts here remained affected today as indefinite strike of Jammu lawyers entered 52nd day today.
The Bar Association Jammu has been demanding shifting of the much publicised Kashmir sex scandal cases from Srinagar to Jammu courts or any other court outside Jammu and Kashmir.
The Association President Vedraj Wazir told UNI that lawyers remained present in the courts but did not appear for the cases.
He said the strike will continue untill their demands were met.
The association has been pleading that because of the hostile atmosphere created by various organisations in Kashmir, fair trial in these cases was not possible in the valley.
The lawyers had started indefinite strike on June 28 against denial of right of defence and threat issued to lawyers in Srinagar while representing their clients.
