IT exports from Mysore likely to touch Rs 850 crore
Mysore, Aug 19 (UNI) IT exports from the city of palaces, projected as the next IT destination in Karnataka, is expected to touch Rs 850 crore during this financial year, Software Technology Park of India Director B V Naidu informed today.
Speaking at the inaugural of a new office of Infobase and ICAD engineering company here, he said that during the first quarter of the year, the city had exported Rs 210 crore. India's IT exports last year amounted to 24 billion dollars, of which Karnataka's share was 37 per cent. IT sector had been contributing 1.5 per cent to GDP growth in the country and it was likely to go up to six per cent by 2015.
Mr Naidu said tier-II cities like Mysore had the potential to grow in industrial sector, particularly in IT. During the first wave of IT industry, a number of large companies had selected Bangalore and other cities to grow and now the time had come for the second wave which would provide larger base in tier-II cities. Even the large companies had no option, but to select tier-II cities for their expansion as it was not possible in Bangalore, he added.
Small and medium companies should unite together like a team and face their problems in order to survive. The IT industry here must join hands and make Mysore a brand name in IT in the world market.
