Israeli soldier killed in West Bank - army

JERUSALEM, Aug 19 (Reuters) A Palestinian gunman shot dead an Israeli soldier in the West Bank today, the Israeli army said.

The shooting occurred near the Jewish settlement of Beqaot close to the Palestinian city of Nablus. An Israeli ambulance service said the soldier was killed in a driveby shooting.
