House Committee summons officials to inquire into GPF scam
Imphal, Aug 19 (UNI) A House Committee of the Manipur Legislative Assembly has started inquiry into the alleged fraudulent withdrawal of General Profident fund of the state government employees.
After reports of fraudulent withdrawal of GPF account surfaced in the state, the House Committee was formed.
Official sources said here today that most of the cases were from the state Education department which was also involved in alleged fake appointment cases.
The committe would convene a meeting on August 21 in the the state Legislative Assembly to discuss the matter.
The Assembly Secretariat, in a notice issued here, said the complainants of the Education(S) department have to submit comprehensive statements/comments, relating to fraudulent withdrawal of their GPP advance, before the House Committee.
In this connection, the Committee has directed the employees of the department, whose G.P.F. were fraudulently withdrawn, to appear before it in person.
Eight teachers would appear before the Committee officials added.
