Governor greets people on Parsi New Year

Mumbai Aug 19 (UNI) The Governor of Maharashtra S M Krishna has greeted the people on the occasion of 'Parsi New Year'.

In his statement, the Governor said,''The contribution of the Parsi community to the various facets of life in India is simply immeasurable. Members of this great community were in the forefront of the nation's freedom struggle. It has given the nation some of the finest lawyers, judges, educationists, scientists, industrialists, philanthropists and leaders in other disciplines.

The nation owes so much to this small community of the Parsis.'' ''On the joyous occasion of the Parsi New Year, I convey my heartiest greetings and good wishes to the members of the Parsi community and wish them a very happy, peaceful and rewarding New Year. This day provides us an occasion to reflect upon the message of purity in thought, speech and deed given by Prophet Zoroaster,'' he added.
