Flood relief scam accused denied bail

Patna, Aug 19 (UNI) Patna High Court today rejected the bail petition of Amitabh Arun, an accused in multi-crore flood relief scam.

A single bench of Justice Mridula Mishra rejected the regular bail petition of Mr Arun after hearing the arguments of petitioner and the prosecution.

Counsel of the state vigilance bureau submitted before the Court that the accused had amassed property disproportionate to his known sources of income.

The accused was a close confidante of the then District Magistrate of Patna, Gautam Goswami, the main accused of flood relief scam, the counsel added.

Earlier, Mr Arun, a computer assistant in Patna Collectorate, was lodged in jail and a chargesheet was filed against him in the multi crore flood relief scam.
