Five held for abducting minor girl

Pondicherry, Aug 19 (UNI) Police today arrested five people in connection with the abduction of a 12-year-old girl from Pudunagar in Reddiyarpalayam constituency.

According to police, Veronica, the daughter of Ramesh was abducted early this week. With no trace of the girl even after two days, Ramesh and his wife Eliza conducted a search and found the girl locked in a room in a house just opposite to their house.

They lodged a complaint with the Reddiyarpalayam police, who initially arrested Charlse Babu and Robert.

In the Mean while, residents of Pudunagar resorted to a road blockade demanding the arrest of the other members of the family.

They alleged that the family was having connection with child lifting gang.

Following the massive agitation, police arrested the other three members of the family, Irudayaraja, Amuda and Palani.

Further investigations are on, police said.
