Court allows police to develop film roll in Sabarimala tantri case

Kochi, Aug 19 (UNI) A local court today permitted the Kerala Police to develop the film roll recovered from Biji Peter, who was arrested last week in the Sabarimala tantri attack case.

The film roll and the digital camera should be examined at the Photographic Bureau of the Kerala Police in the presence of the investigating officer, the court directed.

The negatives and print copies should also be produced before the court.

The court directed the police photographer to appear before it in order to get the film roll and digital camera, which were produced by the investigating officer.

Biji Peter, an interior deisgner, was accused of helping one of the key suspectes in the case Bachu Rahman to escape in his car. He also hid the case property at his residence here.

At the time of his arrest here on August 11, police recovered the film roll, the digital camera and the tantri Kandararu Mohanararu's mobile phone and gold ornaments from him.

Biji Peter had been remanded to judicial custody till August 26.

According to a complaint filed by the tantri with the police, he was attacked in the Link Laxman flat of main accused Sobha John here on July 23 and robbed of his phone and ornaments and forcibly photographed with a woman in a compromising position.

Police later said Sobha John was a key link in an alleged sex racket in the city. Sobha and two of her other associates Anil Kumar and Vigil are also in judicial custody.

The Travancore Devaswom Board sacked tantri Mohanararu on July 24 after reports of his alleged involvement in a sex racket surfaced.
