CIDCO to prepare project report on new airport
Mumbai, Aug 19 (UNI) Following approval from the International Civil Aviation Authority at Montreal, the City Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) is set to prepare a detailed project report on an airport at Navi Mumbai for submission to the State Government.
Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation Praful Patel told UNI the technical feasibility report is ready and the land too is available. After completing all formalities, bidding for the second international airport in the city is expected to be held next year.
Maharashtra Government Special Project secretary Sanjay Ubale confirmed that CIDCO will prepare the detailed report on the project and also elucidate on how it is to be funded.
The project report will be placed before the State Cabinet and, after receiving the State Government's nod, will be placed before the Ministry of Civil Aviation for its formal approval. The airport is proposed to be set up on 1200 acres of land near Dronagiri in Navi Mumbai.
Mr Ubale said it would require at least three months to get the clearance from the State Cabinet and to complete other formalities while it would take another three months for the bidding process for which global tenders will be invited.
