Case against defence personnel for shooting deer
Jodhpur, Aug 19 (UNI) A case has been lodged against three defence personnel allegedly for killing a deer in Sursagar area in Jodhpur district.
City Upper Superintendent of Police Sawai Singh today said three defence personnel had visited Kem village in Sursagar area last evening and shot dead a deer and a rabbit.
He said a dead rabbit was found at the site but the deer's caracass could not be recovered. Traces of blood were also seen at the site, police said.
Enraged villagers gathered at the site after the shooting incident could be pacified only after senior police, defence and administrative officials reached the spot.
Deputy Wildllife Conservator, Kishan Singh Bhati has lodged a case against the three defence personnel.
Eye witnesses said when they reached the spot after hearing the shots, an army vehicle was speeding away with the caracass of a deer. They also said the vehicle had regiment 221 written on it.
Mr Bhati said the defence authorities have promised to identify the culprits and have started investigations.
Two regiments of Army 221 and 220 were camping in the area.
Forest and defence officials also visited the site today.
He said blood samples have been sent for test and the reports will indicate whether the blood is that of deer or rabbit.
