Bus services hit in Central Guj, several buses cancelled
Gandhinagar, Aug 19 (UNI) Bus services in Central Gujarat were today affected as fresh floods were feared in the region, after 12 lakh cusecs water was released from the Kadana and Dharoi dams.
Buses on the Bagodra-Tarapur-Vadodara, Kheda-Dholka and Tarapur-Khambhat routes have been cancelled. Only 88 per cent of buses on these routes were plying, an official statement here today said. Buses going to Madhya Pradesh are being halted at Indore.
The route between Himmatnagar-Idar has been diverted after a nullah broke.
Following release of Kadana dam water in Mahisagar river, road transport in Panchmahals district has also been hit. Buses linking Baria-Dahikot, Lunavada-Vardhari, Santrampur-Ditvaas and Santrampur-Munpur, have been cancelled, it said.
Several villages near Vadnagar and Becharaji have been flooded and hence buses have been diverted.
However, the statement by the State Transport department claimed that buses are operating on 6305 schedules and making 32,900 trips, as against 41,000 trips on 6900 schedules at normal times. It said 124 out of 126 depots are operating across the state.
