Bengal to give free of cost land for plastic industry

Kolkata, Aug 19 (UNI) Seeking to give a fillip to the growth of small industry, the West Bengal Government will allot land free of cost to the entrepreneurs for setting up cluster plastic industry in Coochbehar and Midnapore districts, Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee today said.

" The Government has decided to give land free of cost for setting up of cluster plastic industry in these two districts, " the Chief Minister said while inaugurating a workshop on the schemes and programmes for development of micro and small scale industries here.

Observing that plastic products had tremendous demand in the North-eastern states, Mr Bhattacharjee said entrepreneurs should avail the opportunity by taking advantage of his Government's offer.

Putting thrust on the growth of small and cottage industries, the Chief Minister said the Left Front Government had accorded top priority on the promotion of silk, jute, handicraft, agro-processing and foundry industries--all having vast resource pool and employment potential.

Keeping in view its target areas, the state Government had already appointed a task force, including the Chief Secretary and the Industry Secretary, the Chief Minister said.

While making an appeal to Banks for disbursing loans for small and cottage industries, Mr Bhattacharjee hoped the sector would get a boost once the centre's Micro Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006 came into force from November this year. UNI KDG SJC AB 1702
