AP releases Krishna water for TN
Tiruvallur, Tamil Nadu, Aug 19 (UNI) The Krishna water released by the Andhra Pradesh Government reached the Zero Point, Thamarakkuppam here today.
PWD sources said Tamil Nadu Minister for Higher Education, K Ponmudi, who is also in-charge of Public Works Department, sprayed flower petals on water.
The release of water, followed an agreement reached between the two States during the recent visit of Tamil Nadu Local Administration Minister M K Stalin and Mr Ponmudi to Hyderabad.
The Andhra Pradesh Irrigation Minister Ponnala Lakhmaya said in the initial stage, 250 cusecs of water was released and it would be gradually raised to 1,000 cusecs.
The water is expected to reach Puzhal Tank here tomorrow and it would serve as the lifeline for the Chennai citizens, the sources added.
