All gates of Gandhisagar dam opened, Rajasthan Govt informed
Bhopal, Aug 19 (UNI) All the 19 gates of the Gandhisagar dam on the Chambal river in north western Madhya Pradesh's Mandsaur district were opened last night to accommodate heavy water outflow when the water level reached 1,311 feet, one feet less than the danger level.
The gates remained opened till 1000 hrs. The district administration has taken necessary steps in view of the opening of the gates.
The Rajasthan Government was intimated prior to and after the opening of the gates, official sources said.
As per UNI report from Mandsaur, the district received 13 cm rainfall overnight. The district has received 120 cm rainfall up to now starting from June 1. The district administration has taken.
In Hoshangabad district, the Naramada was flowing six feet below the danger level of 964 feet. Three gates of the Tawa dam were opened at 1000 hrs today.
All the 13 gates of the Tawa dam were opened on August 17 and 18 due to heavy rainfall. With the intensity of rainfall lessening, there was respite from flood situation in the district.
In the state capital, situation improved with rainfall stopping.
All the gates of Bhadbada, Kalisot and Kerwa dams were opened yesterday to control the situation.
