4 school students washed away in Pali

Jaipur, Aug 19 (UNI) Four school students were washed away in Nana town in Pali district while a car driver and a truck were washed away in Sirohi today.

Reports from Jodhpur say that 25 cusecs of water was discharged from Jawai dam in Pali district which is threatening to flood regions of Barmer and Jalore.

All traffic on roads from Jodhpur towards Pali and Sirohi has been stopped and the RAC has been alerted to handle the situation.

Torrential rains over the past few days have drenched Banswara and Udaipur districts in south Rajasthan even as the temperature shot to 40 degrees in Bikaner today in the north-western part of the state.

The water level in Gandhi Sagar dam on the Chambal river in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan border was 1311.40 ft today while the inflow of water was at 11,40666 cusec and the outflow was 4,98738 cusecs.

The water level in the dam is abounding. The five surrounding districts in Rajasthan have been put on alert.

The heavy inflow of water into the dam has forced the authorities to open nine sluice gates to allow the water level to decrease radually.

The weather office has predicted very heavy rains at a few places in south and south-east Rajasthan in the next 24 hours while moderate rains aue predicted at many places in the rest of the state.

Cloudy skies and intermittent rains made the weather pleasant and cool in the state capital today. The maximum temperature recorded today was 28 degree Celsius while the minimum was 24 degrees cusecs today. The humidity level in the city was 90 per cent today.

The temperature in Ajmer was 28 degrees, Dabok 24 degrees, Jodhpur 35 degrees and Bikaner 40 degrees respectively.

Dabok Airport in Udaipur recorded 142 mm rains, Banswara recorded 229 mm, Danpur 210 mm, Dariyabad 170 mm while, Bagidora, and Keshopura recorded 160 mm rains today. Kota recorded 12 mm rains while Rawatbhata was drenched with 55 mm today.

Dariyabad in Udaipur district mapped 169 mm of rainfall, Jhadol 114 mm, Gokunda 118 mm and Salumbar 120 mm rain respectively.
