Israeli air strike in Gaza destroys building
Gaza, Aug 18: An Israeli air strike today destroyed a building in the Gaza Strip where the army said militants were making rockets, causing at least one injury.
Medics said one person was injured in the blast.
The missile struck a metal workshop in the Gaza City area, Palestinian witnesses said.
An Israeli army spokeswoman said a ''weapons factory'' for rockets was targeted, but the owner of the workshop denied any ties to militants.
After militants abducted a soldier in a cross-border raid on June 25 Israel launched its first large-scale ground operation in Gaza since quitting the coastal territory last year.
The operation has also been aimed at stopping militants from firing rockets across the border. Nearly 180 Palestinians have been killed in the offensive.
