Tripura to spend Rs 9.5 crore for Minority upliftment
Agartala, Aug 17 (UNI) Tripura government has sanctioned Rs 9.5 crore under the Special Areas Development Scheme to uplift the minorities in the state.
Another Rs 24 lakh loan had been sanctioned, with a minimal interest, for the unemployed washerman to make them independent.
This was disclosed by sources in the Ministry of Tribal Welfare and the Ministry of Minority Development.
Sources further disclosed that the government would sanction about Rs 8.57 crore for the development of the Schedule Caste (SC) and another Rs 13.15 crore for the betterment of Other Backward Class (OBC).
''The state government has been working for the overall development of the minority, SC and OBC communities from the very beginning on priority basis. Apart from helping them financially, the government would also provide them land for rubber plantation with the help of both forest and rubber board,'' sources said.
He further added that the decision was taken at a high level meeting recently.
''The government would allocate 50 hectares of land to some unemployed youths belonging to the SC community for rubber plantation and provide them with seeds and manures,'' sources said.
He further informed that the government will give loan of Rs 40,000 to 60 unemployed youths belonging to the minority community.
