Kerala Govt. to hold convention on 'Synergising PSUs' on Aug. 21
Kochi, Aug 17 (UNI) The Kerala Government is organising a major convention, called 'Synergising PSUs', to be attended by the chief executives of over 100 central and state-level public sector undertakings operating in Kerala, here on August 21.
Director, Industries and Commerce, T O Sooraj said here today that the onset of globalisation and economic liberalisation had posed new challenges and opportunities for the industry in general and PSUs in particular.
An individual PSU, by being in relative isolation, was not in a position to address the issues affecting its competitiveness on its own. Neither was it feasible for any government to address the issues at the macro level in view of the large numbers of PSUs.
''The convention is to initiate measures to streamline the working of state owned PSUs and to have a networking to offer critical mass for the customization of their services,'' Mr Sooraj said.
The meet would also facilitate information and knowledge networks in the areas related to raw material procurements, markets, technology and input providers, he added.
The convention will be inaugurated by Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan. State Industries Minister Elamaram Kareem would also participate in the deliberations, to be attended by the chief executives of 104 PSUs operating in the state.
