Juki Corpn's Synthesis Exhibition to begin Sept 8

Chennai, Aug 17: The Juki Corporaration, Japan, a giant in the manufacture of Industrial Sewing Machines, would organise a three-day 'Synthesis Exhibition' (JUKI EXPO 2006) in New Delhi from September eight, as part of its first all-round exhibition schedule in India.

Talking to newspersons here today senior Managing Director of the Company Hiroshi Kawano, who was here in connection with the three-day similar exhibition to begin here tomorrow, said their exhibition at Bangalore from July seven to nine had evoked good response and attracted as many as 1927 visitors.

He said it was also proposed to hold a similar exhibition at Mumbai from November ten to 12. During the exhibitions the company introduced their new products from the line up of industrial sewing machines to surface mount technology systems and household sewing machines, representing the second and third pillar of their production programmes, respectively, he added.

Mr Kawano said the company planned to expand its market penetration, both in ISM and other business divisions.

He hoped that these all-round exhibitions would promote sales of their surface mount technology systems and household sewing machines, making the most of the know-how and sales infrastructure already in place for ISM business.

He said over 2000 visitors were expected to visit the Chennai exhibition, commencing tomorrow, and the concurrent events would include a seminar titled 'How to raise productivity' conducted by JUKI Sewing Research Institute.

He also hoped that the exhibitions would also help exhibition of innovative technology, as well as boost product sales in the country.

Mr Kawano said the Japanese Government had decided to celebrate Japanese year in India in 2007 and the Indian Government would celebrate India year in Japan the same year. The relationship and trade dealings between the two countries would improve further.

Mr Kawano added that the all-round exhibition was aimed both at marketing their products in India and at finding local sales agents for their household sewing machines. The company wanted to make a strong approach, especially to customers engaged in sewing knitwear. It would introduce customers engaged in sewing cotton, silk textiles, thick materials and foundations to products with high productivity and high quality.

Mr Kawano also pointed out that in the last 53 years, the company had sold 11 million units of ISM and, in 2000 alone, sold 5,33,000 units. It was 5,00,000 units in 2005. The company achieved sales of 124.8 billion yen in 2005-06, he added.

Hari Kumar, Director Juki Machinery (India) Private Ltd, (JMI), who was also present, said the JUKI Corporation was now expanding the Surface Mount Technology Systems (SMTS) sales territory of JMI.

Eight new local staff, who were experts in SMT would join the company, four of whom were currently undergoing technical training at JUKI's SMT Centre in Akita Prefecture, Japan, he added.

Mr Kumar said that from now on, they would utilise JUKI's foothold in the country to advance sales countrywide. They also planned to reinforce cooperation in sales and technical service with their local sales agents, he added.

He said the company sold 15,000 units of ISM in India in the last year and it would touch the 20,000 mark in the next couple of years.

As the country's apparel exports kept increasing year by year, imports of ISMs continued on an upward trend and JMI would definitely tap such vast potential, he added.

He said ISM sales recorded 30 per cent growth in the country in 2006, as against ten per cent in 2002.
