Brother takes Natwar to court over land dispute

Jaipur, Aug 17: Rajasthan High Court has issued notices to Natwar Singh, his son Jagat Singh and the state government seeking their response to a petition filed by Mr Natwar's younger brother Bharat Singh in a land dispute case.

Bharat Singh alleged that three bighas of land that was part of family's ancestral property had wrongly been allotted by the state government at a concessional rate to Natwar Singh and his son.

Bharat Singh said in his writ that agricultural land worth Rs 60 crore situated near the ancestral property at Bharatpur was acquired by the state government in 1972-73. The Bharatpur Urban Improvement Trust (UIT) compensated Bharat Singh after taking possession of the land.

Under the existing laws, he later applied for the said three bighas of land allotted back to him at concessional rate but the same was allotted in the name of Natwar Singh and his son.

The notices were issued by Justice Ashok Parihar of the Jaipur bench of the High Court. The matter is expected to come up for hearing again next week.
