Another Powerless Day in Capital
New Delhi, Aug 17 (UNI) It was another hot and humid day and another day of punishing power cuts in the national capital.
Plagued by supply shortages and poor transmission infrastructure, Delhi experienced 726 MW peak time power shortfall today, an official spokesman said.
As against the peak demand of 3726 MW at 1600 hrs, the load supply was around 3000 MW in the capital, he said.
There was no supply from the Rajghat Power Station, which generates 125 MW while the Naptha-Jhakri plant supplied 250 MW against the allocation of 340 MW.
Apart from this, there was no supply from the 210 MW Badarpur Thermal Power Station. Due to major overhauling of two units of Singrauli, Delhi was able to get lesser supply of around 100 MW, the spokesman said.
The situation was likely to improve once ONGC icreases supply of gas from Gujarat in another two days. The Badarpur Thermal Power Station too was expected to be re-commissioned by August 21-22 while the two units of Singrauli are expected to be functional by August 20-21, he said.
Power cuts added to the misery of the people suffering high humidity and heat.
The maximum day temperature was 37.6 degree celsius while the minimum was 28.1 today, the weather office said. Relative humidity was recorded at a high of 83.54 per cent.
