10 robbers killed in gunfight with police in Northern Bangladesh
Dhaka, Aug 17 (UNI) Ten robbers were killed in a violent gunfight with police in Pabna district of northern Bangladesh this morning.
The four-hour battle also left at least 10 policemen, including Officer-in-Charge of Sujanagar police station Rabiul Islam, and a number of robbers injured, UNB news agency quoted the police as saying.
The police raided Nakharach area, 50 km east from Pabna district headquarters, at about 0430 hrs local time as they unveiled a plot of robbery. They encircled the robbers when they were preparing to commit dacoity in the area.
Sensing the presence of the police, the gang opened fire on them.
The police also retaliated, triggering the bloody gun battle.
The police arrested nine robbers, including three with bullet wounds, from the spot.
