SAI reiterates it's demand for a central act
Mumbai, Aug 16 (UNI) The shootout at the residence of Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has once again raised the issue of private security guards and the need for enacting central legislation for the regulation of private security agencies in the state.
Security Association of India (SAI) president Gursharan Singh Chauhan today said central legislation calls for compulsary training of private guards and verification from the Home department. In the case of firing at the actor's house, if both these things would have been followed, the situation could not have arisen, Mr Chauhan noted.
''Firstly, in case the accused was trained physically and mentally, he would not have resorted to such a step. Secondly, reports say that the guard in question had arrived just 15 days ago. In such a case, compulsory verification by the home department would have helped avoid the incident'', he explained.
Mr Chauhan informed that SAI has already written to the state government to implement the central legislation and also made a similar demand with the Mumbai police.
