Life normal in valley after week of high tension
Srinagar, Aug 16: Life returned to normal after about a week's tension due to threat perception on the eve of Independence Day, which passed off peacefully throughout the valley yesterday.
Shops and business establishments reopened here this morning after yesterday's total shutdown on a general strike call given by the separatist organisations.
Traffic which was also off the roads from August 14 afternoon, was again plying on the routes as usual.
Majority of educational institutions which remained closed on Saturday followng a strike call in protest against Human Rights violations, reopened this morning.
Those who had gone to Pahalgam, Gulmarg and other tourist spots on August 12 afternoon to avoid the tension in the city and other towns, returned to their homes last evening.
