Lalu demands all party meeting to discuss drought like situation
Patna, Aug 16 (UNI) RJD President Lalu Prasad Yadav today demanded an all party meeting to discuss the drought like situation in Bihar.
Talking to newsmen here, Mr Prasad said that state government should take steps for providing relief to the farmers of drought affected areas.
The Railway minister alleged that instead of providing succour to the affected farmers, the state government was engaged in launching projects at Nalanda and Bhagalpur in view of the forthcoming by-elections to Lok Sabha seats in these districts.
Talking about the alleged nexus between Bihar JD(U) president Lalan Singh and notorious gangster Ashok Mahto, who was arrested recently, Mr Prasad said it was a serious matter and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar should conduct an inquiry into it.
He demanded severe action against the authorities of COMFED for the immolation of a youth at Gaya yesterday, who was forced to take the extreme step as his dues was not paid by the authorities.
He said it was unfortunate that officials of the district administration did not take steps to prevent the incident despite prior information in this connection.
