Cataract surgery: New technique by Indian doc wins praise
Bangalore, Aug 16 (UNI) The Super Phakonit Technique, pioneered by the city-based Dr Agarwal Hospitals, to perform cataract sugeries using 0.7 mm micro incision has won appreciation at the 11th Congress of the Indonesian Ophthalmologists Association held in Medan, Indonesia.
Informing this to newspersons here today, Dr Sunita Agarwal, who had returned after attending the conference in Indonesia, said she had conducted a live cataract surgery during the conference using the new technique.
Describing the technique as a bloodless, painless, sutureless and patchless technique, she said it did not require hospitalisation.
The conference, held early this month, was attended by more than 1,000 international ophthalmic delegates.
Dr Agarwal said ''Today the platform has broadened with international appreciation in terms of delivering instruction courses, seminars and symposiums in the several countries. Students from all parts of India and the world congregate to learn the state-of-the-art surgery.'' The hospital now aimed at developing a 0.5 mm ultra micro incision, she added.
