Rs 4 lakh crores investment on anvil in Orissa-Naveen
Bhubaneswar, Aug 15 (UNI) Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today announced that investment to the tune of Rs four lakh crores in steel, aluminium,power and other sectors is on the anvil in the state with many investors showing keen interest in investment.
Unfurling the tricolour and taking salute at a state level parade on the Mahatma Gandhi Marg on the 60th Independence Day, Mr Patnaik said implementation of these investment proposals would usher in more revenue generation and create vast employment opportunities.
Stating that the livelihood of the vast majority of the people of Orissa is linked with agricultural activities, the Chief Minister said his government had announced attractive package for farmers which included seed bank in each Panchayat, kissan credit card to all the farmers and land pass book to all the households.
Mr Patnaik said 50,000 bore wells and tube wells would be set up during the next three years to ensure irrigation potential to at least 35 per cent of the cultivable land in each block within the next five years.
Expressing concern over the Centre's decision to reduce the fund for development of KBK region initiated by late Biju Patnaik, he said he had announced to launch Biju KBK plan for which the state would provide Rs 600 crores during the 11th Five Year Plan period.
The Chief Minister said a bill to constitute the Special Courts to deal with cases of corruption had been adopted in the state assembly with the sole objective of removing corruption in the administration.
