No Indian firing across LoC: Army

New Delhi, Aug 15 (UNI) The Indian Army today denied that its troops had opened fire across the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch sector of Jammu and Kashmir.

''We deny it. No such incident (of firing) occurred,'' a senior Army official told UNI.

A Reuters report from Muzaffarabad claimed Indian troops fired into Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK) today, wounding two youth.

It quoted a Pakistani military officer as saying Indian forces fired from a machine gun at Rangur Nullah in the Poonch district, injuring the two.

Meanwhile, reports from Jammu last night said at least one Army jawan was wounded in the firing from Pakistani side at the border post in Khan Karmar sector, police here said.

About 13 to 15 rounds were fired at the Indian post from across the border in which a jawan, Manoj Kumar of the Gurkha Regiment was injured, police said.

Inspector General of Police (Jammu Division) S P Vaid confirmed that there had been firing on the Line of Control (LoC) but said it had not been confirmed by the Army as yet.

However, army sources said there was no violation of ceasefire as Pakistani troops' involvement in the incident had not been confirmed.
