Flag post falls down as two 'Chairmen' of village school clash
Hubli, Aug 15 (UNI) Police registered a case against two persons in this district when they fought over as to who should hoist the National Flag in a village school, resulting in the flag and the poll falling down on the ground.
Police said the incident occurred when one person came to the Independence Day Ceremony saying he was the new Chairman of the secondary school in Gundalli village, as per the appointment made by the local MLA. However, the old Chairman refused to accept this and said that his term was not yet over.
The two started fighting, which ended up in fist cuffs, even as the students and teachers watched. In the melee, the pole holding the flag fell on the ground. Police soon arrived on the scene to pacify the warring 'Chairmen'.
Later the teachers erected the poll again and got the tricolour hoisted by a student.
Police booked a case against the two for dishonouring the National Flag.
