CAIT urges Govt not to seal commercial outlets in Delhi
New Delhi, Aug 15 (UNI) Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT), an apex body of the trading community, today requested the Central government not to seal the commercial outlets as it will ruin tens and lakhs of people in the national capital.
CAIT Secretary General Praveen Khandelwal, however, expressed satisfaction over the reported statement of Union Urban Development Minister S Jaipal Reddy in the Parliament yesterday stating to even ammend the Constitution, if need arises.
Mr Khandelwal said the traders who are working since decades by investing their life long earned capital are a worried lot. To bring an end to such an atmosphere, the Union Government must announce firm steps to deal the situtation, he said.
Since the development of commercial space did not keep pace with the demand, commercial activities have been dominant in residential areas for decades. Majority of the commercial outlets which are going to be affected with sealing, are running their livelihood through collateral loans arranged from banks&financial institutions, the CAIT President said.
He charged that planning and development process during last four decades in Delhi had suffered from ambiguities, contradictions and gaps that had caused many aberrations and distortions.
