AP Sikhs observe 400 years of martyrdom of Sikh Guru
Hyderabad, Aug 15 (UNI) The Sikh community in the city today observed 400 years of martyrdom of the Sikh Guru, Guru Arjan Dev, who stood for communal harmony and national integration.
Thousands of Sikhs and those from other communities observed the occasion with religious fervour, gaiety and devotion. The main programme of the concluding event was organised at Quli Qutub Shah Stadium.
Over 15,000 Sikh devotees and others took part in the 'Vishaal Deewan' (mass congregation) by offering prayers to the Guru Granth Saheb.
The congregation, which began in the moring, continued till the evening and was marked by the recitations of 'Holy Gurban Keertans' by renowed 'Ragi Jathas' (religious preachers) who were specially invited from various parts of the country.
President and General Secretary of the Gurudwara Saheb Nalebagh Sikh Chawani said in a statement after the culmination of the congregation, the traditional 'Guru Ka Langar' (free community kitchen) served all the devotees fostering fraternity and concern for fellow human beings.
