Weather throws train schedules off gear in MP

Bhopal, Aug 14 (UNI) Heavy rainfall in the Madhya Pradesh capital and surrounding districts has led to several up trains being terminated before reaching their destinations and being converted into down trains while others were diverted.

''In view of track damage between Diwangunj and Bhadbhada on the Bhopal-Bina section, some up trains were terminated at Bina. The 2002 Shatabdi Express was thus terminated and routed to Delhi as 2001 down. Likewise, the 492 Jodhpur-Bhopal Passenger was routed to Jodhpur as 491 down,'' said the West-Central Railway's Bhopal Division PRO Anil Jain.

The 8236 Bilaspur-Bhopal Exp was terminated at Bina and routed to Bilaspur as the 8235 down train. The 1356 Jhansi-Itarsi Passenger was terminated at Diwangunj and routed to Jhansi as the 1355 down train while the 1590 Bina-Bhopal Passenger was cancelled.

''Down trains being diverted included the 2615 GT Exp, 2721 Dakshin Exp 2779 Goa Exp and 2533 Pushpak Exp that were routed to Delhi via Itarsi-Jabalpur-Katni. Similarly, the up trains 2550 Sampark Kranti, 2138 Punjab Mail, 6218 Swarn Jayanti and 2610 Mangla Exp were diverted via Bina-Katni-Jabalpur and Itarsi,'' the official added.
