Revamped Crop Insurance scheme will be implemented soon: Pawar
New Delhi, Aug 14 (UNI) The revamped crop insurance programme, presently covered under the National Agriculture Insurance Scheme (NAIS), will be soon be implemented with a village as a unit for determining premium and claims thereafter, Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar informed the Lok Sabha today.
At present, NAIS takes a block as a unit for the purpose of assessing the crop value and quantum of damage, if any.
Responding to a private member's bill on Crop Insurance, Mr Pawar said the GoM had already recommended the changes in the scheme, which were being considered for implementation by a Special Cell created by the Agriculture Ministry for the purpose.
