Four militants surrender in Kashmir after return from POK

Srinagar, Aug 14 (UNI) Four militants surrendered alongwith arms and ammunition at Uri in north Kashmir immediately after they returned back from Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK).

Official sources said all the four militants, resident of Bandipora, surrendered at a forward army post near the Line of Control (LoC) in Uri sector after they crossed over from PoK.

They said the militants also handed over arms and ammunition, at the time of their surrender which they had brought from PoK for carrying out attacks on security forces.

About a dozen militants had surrendered after their return from POK in twin border districts of Baramulla and Kupwara since January this year.

Official sources said a large number of youth from Kashmir Valley crossed over to POK for receiving arms training in militants camps there.

However, majority of them wanted to return and lead a normal life.

The surrendered militants said they were fed up with violence and wanted to live an honourable life with their families.

They confirmed they received arms training in camps set up in PoK and other areas.
