Firoz Deshmukh's custody extended in explosives seizure case
Mumbai, Aug 14 (UNI) The special MCOCA court here today extended the police custody of Firoz Deshmukh, arrested in connection with the seizure of explosives and ammunition from Aurangabad till August 28.
Deshmukh was produced before MCOCA court judge Mridula Bhatkar who extended his remand till August 28.
He was arrested by Anti-terrorist Squad (ATS) of the Mumbai Police on July 31 from Nalasopara in neighbouring Thane. Police suspect Deshmukh had played a vital role in transporting the explosives.
A total of 17 persons including Mohammad Amir Shakeel Ahmed, Zubair Sayyed Anwar, Muzaffar Tanvir, Abdul Azim Abdul Jamir Shaikh, Javed Majid, Afzal khan Nabir Khan, Riaz Ahmed Ramzan, Mohammad Sharif Ahmed, Bilal Razaq, Sayyed Zafruddin, Mushtaq Ahmed Isak and others, have been arrested in this connection.
The ATS had seized sixteen AK-47 rifles, 43 kg RDX, 4000 ammunition rounds and 50 hand grenades from Aurangabad. The ATS, in a joint operation with the Aurangabad police on May 9, had arrested three persons, including a SIMI activist, from Verul village and seized the arms and ammunition. The others were arrested subsequently.
