BHEL bags Rs 1,224 cr order from UP govt

New Delhi, Aug 14: Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) has bagged a contract worth Rs 1,224 crore for setting up a 500 MW thermal power plant in Uttar Pradesh.

The Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Ltd (UPRVUNL) has placed the orders for setting up two units of 250 MW each at Parichha TPS Extension, a company statement said today.

The project is slated for commissioning in fiscal 2009-10.

So far, BHEL has commissioned over 9,000 MW of power generating sets in the state including thermal, gas-based, nuclear and hydro units of various ratings.

For UPRVUNL, BHEL is already executing a contract for setting up two units of 210 MW capacity each at Parichha TPS Extension, of which one unit has been comissioned.

BHEL has fully established state-of-the-art technology for the manufacturer for the manufacture of thermal sets of up to 500 MW rating and has the capability to manufacturer sets up to 1,000 MW rating suited to Indian conditions using Indian as well as imported coal.

Till date, all the eleven 250 MW thermal units operating in the country have been supplied and commissioned by BHEL.
