Abducted toddlers in Meghalaya remains untraced after 12 days
Shillong, Aug 14 (UNI) Even after 12 days, the whereabouts of the two abducted school-going children in Meghalaya remains unknown, despite efforts made by the state police and Border Security Force to trace them.
A three-member police crack team has been deployed along the Indo-Bangla border, the area police suspect the abductors are hiding in, to track four-year-old school children, Sanchita and Harsha Goel.
The BSF have even requested the Bangladesh Rifles to trace the two toddlers in its territory, as the state police did not rule out the possibility of the kidnappers crossing over to Bangladesh with the two little ones.
''We are still on with our rescue operation and we are taking a step by step approach to ensure that the two hostages are not harmed,'' a police official told UNI here.
Earlier, the police have detained the driver of the school children, Rudal Shah alias Amar Behari, whom the police suspected to be the prime accused in carrying out the plot.
So far, Shah has been misleading the police adding more confusion.
Today, a group of Mothers' organisation called on Chief Minister JD Rymbai and submitted a memorandum urging him to trace the two missing children at the earliest.
Criticising the politicians, the mothers' organisation said, ''Our leaders are more concerned about their positions rather than the problems faced by the people.'' This attitude has given rise to crime in the state, the organisations pointed out.
The Goels were abducted on August 2 on ransom after their driver, Rudal hatched the conspiracy with his goons.
