60-crore cricket stadium in North Goa soon: BCCI
Panaji, Aug 14 (UNI) The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is ready to grant Rs 25 crore to Goa Cricket Association for building a 50,000-capacity international cricket stadium at Tivim in North Goa.
Disclosing this to mediapersons here today, the BCCI vice president and the state IT minister Dayanad Narvekar said the board would deposit the money with the association so that it could go ahead with land acquisition soon, for the stadium estimated to cost about Rs 60 crore.
Mr Narvekar is also the president of the cricket association.
BCCI president and Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar had annonced assistance for constructing the state-of-the-art cricket stadim during his visit last year.
Mr Narvekar further said the BCCI would offer Rs one crore matching grant to the Goa University for developing infrastructure for cricket ground and Rs 2 lakh to each of district level authorities.
