Chennai, Aug 13 (UNI) Kerala-based Seematti, a trend setter in silks and textiles since 1910, has come out with a ''silk miracle'', the world's longest hand woven silk saree and all set to enter into the Guinness book of world records.

Addressing a press conference after unveiling the 1585 ft long saree here, Beena Kannan, CEO and Chief Designer, Seematti, said the ''silk wonder'' incorporates a pictorial mosaic of India's rich cultural legacy, all through its length.

''Seematti dedicates the saree, which was woven by 120 weavers, led by master designer and weaver E Selvan, non-stop for two months and 19 days, to the nation on the occasion of Independence Day 2006,'' she said.

Ms Beena Kannan, who conceived the idea and was working on the project for the past one year, said the saree is to enter the Guinness Book of World records, beating the present record held for longest saree by Pothy's, which came out with a 1276 ft powerloom saree with hand paints, last year.

In all, the Seematti saree, weighing 72.583 kgs, had 51 ''palls'' and the subjects incorporated in it, included personalities like Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Saint Poet Thiruvalluvar and Mother Teresa, monuments like Taj Mahal, Parliament building, Folk dances, classical dances, Kerala's Boat Race, Onam and Elephant Festivals, Kalari Fight, Temples and Epics, she said.

After completing the formalities, it would be cut into 51 sarees and sold, she added.
