Panchayati Raj representatives to undergo training
Patna, Aug 12 (UNI) State government today informed the Legislative Council that newly elected representatives of Panchayats and district boards would be imparted training about their duties, rights and different welfare programmes to enable them in effectively discharging their responsibilities.
Replying to a special debate on 'Panchayati Raj System,' in the state legislative council, Rural Engineering Minister Narendra Narain Yadav said steps were being taken for orientation programmes for the elected representatives at Bihar Institute of Public Administration and Rural Development(BIPARD), Patna.
Mr Yadav said providing for better infrastructural facilites to Panchayats, state government had sent a proposal of Rs 346.12 Crores to world bank for assistance. The fund to be provided by World Bank would be spent for the construction of Gram Panchayat Bhawan, establishing the computer facilites, libraries and other basic amenities, he added.
The minister informed that similar proposal of Rs 567 crores had been sent to World bank for Gram Kutchery (Village Court) to provide speedy justice to the people at the grass root level.
While replying to another special debate on flood and drought situation in the state, water resources minister Ramashrya Prasad Singh said that state government had requested the centre to be in touch with Nepal for construction of Saptkoshi Dam which would mitigate the perennial problems of the flood in northern Bihar, he assured that that state government would soon convene an all party meeting to seek their opinions on the issue and try to evolve a lasting solution.
Meanwhile, Bihar Apartment Ownership bill was passed by the upper house. The bill was already passed by the Bihar assembly.
