Laden's CD calling for 'jehad' seized in J
Jammu, Aug 13: The Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) has recovered four CDs, one of which carries a speech by al-Qaeda chief Osama Bin Laden calling upon the youth to join 'jehad'.
Senior Suprerintendent of Police (SSP) Poonch S D Singh Jamwal, told UNI today that out of the four CDs, which were recovered on Saturday at the scene of an encounter at Gursai Nullah in Mendhar tehsil, one carried a 28-minute message of Laden for militants and youth asking them to join jehad.
''It is the first time here and probably in Jammu and Kashmir as well that any Laden CD has been recovered. Of course it is very significant as it was recovered from the possession of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militants,'' he said.
''The rcovery clearly establishes a link between al-Qaeda and LeT,'' he said, adding that the state police is ready to face any challenge from militants.
Police sources said the person urging youth to join jehad clearly appeared to be Laden. However it is still to be ascertained where and when the CD was originally made.
Another CD, from the recovered four, showed different training techniques of the militants.
''This indicates that the LeT is planning to train local youth for militancy within the Indian territory using the techniques shown in the CD,'' police sources said.
Sources further said the third CD was a hindi movie while the fourth one was corrupted and could not be opened. Efforts are on to decode a laptop recovered from the scene of another encounter at Beri Rakh in Mendhar on Thursday in which two Jaish-e-Mohammed militants were eliminated.
