Vikram Chandra releases 'Sacred Games'
Mumbai, Aug 12: Commonwealth Writer's prize winner Vikram Chandra has launched his new book 'Sacred Games', revolving around the hot and happening metropolis of Mumbai.
The book, released here, is a saga of love, friendship, betrayal and violence. Set in the back-drop of Mumbai, the story revolves around a Sikh cop Sartaj Singh and the indomitable 'Godfather' of Mumbai's underworld, Ganesh Gaitonde, Chandra said while reading excerpts from his book in front of a select audience here.
On his central character, Chandra said, Sartaj is on the wrong side of 40, his marriage is on the rocks and future career prospects bleak. His 'nirvana' lies in nabbing the don and putting him behind bars.
The Indian rights for the book have been acquired by Penguin India. It will also be publishing the book in Hindi this year.
