Tribal woman hacked to death

Baripada, Aug 12 (UNI) A tribal woman was hacked to death yesterday by a tribal youth who suspected her of practising witchcraft.

Police said Sitamoni Soren(50) of Khejuri village in Mayurbhanj district was hacked to death by Chaitanya Hembrom of the same village.

Chaitanya suspected Sitamoni to be a witch trying to harm him with the help of magical powers of sorcery.

He hacked her with a sharp weapon severing her head from the trunk.

Police later arrested Chaitanya under section 302 IPC on charges of murder and forwarded him to the court at Rairangpur for trial.
