Sporting trounces Dempo 2-0 in GFA charity match

Margao, Aug 12 (UNI) Governor Cup winners Sporting club de Goa blanked professional league defending champions Dempo sports club 2-0 in the Goa Football Association( GFA) charity match at Nehru stadium in Fatorda, here today.

The tie was a curtain raiser for this season 2006-07 and also a beneficiary match for the family of late Antonio Borges, ex- player of sporting club de Goa who died in a road accident two years ago.

In an evenly contested match in both the halves, Sporting had to wait till the 88th minute to forge ahead through Belo Razak. It was a penlty goal, when Dempo's Cressan Antao brought down Sporting's Simon Borgues in the danger zone. Razak neatly converted the penalty Nicholav Borgues increased the lead during the injury minutes of the second half to make it 2-0.
