Situation continues to be tense in Zunheboto
Kohima, Aug 12 (UNI) Tension gripped Zunebato district of Nagaland following the recent clash between NSCN factions at Sutemi village on August 9, in which two NSCN(K) cadres were killed.
Official sources said here today that 30 NSCN-IM armed cadres, who arrived at VK town of the district on last Wednesday, were asked by the Gaon Burah and public to leave the town. They left and then came back again to disrupt a public meeting. The cadres fired several rounds in the air to frighten the public.
The NSCN(K), on hearing the firing, chased the NSCN-IM cadres towards the jungle.
Sources said the NSCN-IM had violated the cease-fire agreement, signed between the two factions, under the aegis of the Sumi Hoho and Sumi NGOs on June 14.
