Shiv continues to struggle, tied 131st at KLM Open
Netherlands, Aug 12 (UNI) Shiv Kapur continued to battle poor form, swirling winds, torrential rain and lengthy play interruptions as he carded a second successive four-over 75 to be tied 131st in the second round of the the 1.6 million dollar The KLM Open.
The Indian once again opened to a poor start and ended up with a two-day total of eight-over 150 with the halfway cut yet to be decided after lightning and rain led to the suspension of play.
Playing his back nine first, Shiv dropped bogeys on the 12th 17th and 18th to be three over at the midway mark. Making the turn to play his front nine, Shiv hardly had anyting to smile as he dropped another shot on the first. He raised hopes with a brace of birdies on the second and third but the mini-recovery proved to be a flash in the pan as he droppwd shots on eighth and ninth to end the day on a disappointing note.
Soren Kjeldsen of Denmark fired a sizzling three-under 68 to take the lead before playing conditions deteriorated at the Kennemer Golf and Country Club.
Lengthy interruptions meant that over two hours were lost in the morning and anothet two fell by the wayside in the afternoon. The delays were caused firstly by the threat of thunder and lightning in the area and secondly, to let the course dry after the ferocious pounding from the heavens above.
The weather did not allow the majority of afternoon starters to complete their second rounds.
