Navigation Direction School celebrates 54th anniversary

Kochi, Aug 12 (UNI) The Navigation Direction School of the Indian Navy celebrated its 54th Anniversary at the Naval Base here today.

Established in 1952, the school provides basic and advanced training in the fields of navigation, operations and aircraft direction to officers and saiors of the Navy, Coast Guard, friendly foreign navies and other security agencies, an official press release said.

The school is equipped with several state-of-the-art simulators and a variety of mordern training equipment, including a mini-planetarium.

Commodore Arun Nayar, the seniormost Navigation Direction officer at Kochi, was the chief guest.

The anniversary celebrations included a wreath laying ceremony, release of the professional journal of navigation and operations 'Dhruv' and the traditional cake-cutting ceremony by the chief guest along with the junior most sailor in the school.

Other senior officers of the Southern Naval Command and personnel of the Navigation Branch stationed at Kochi attended the ceremony.
