Maharashtra Hockey Association denies appointment of Lakra
Pune, Aug 12 (UNI) Maharashtra Hockey Association (MHA) ice-President Victor Ellis today categorically denied the appointment of former olympian Ajit Lakra to coach the state team before the ongoing Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Gold Cup All India Hockey tournament.
Ellis, a former joint secretary of the Indian Hockey Federation (IHF) and the president of the ongoing tournament said that Lakra's service had not been sought at any point of of time whatsoever.
Hence the story that was published in a section of the media that quoted Lakra's claims that he was asked to coach the team and that he had refused the offer, are patently false, Ellis said.
MHA has taken strong exception to the news item and the matter will be taken up in the managing committee meeting to be held soon, Ellis added.
